We are looking at reasons that we cannot blame the government for.
There were approximately 241 million people aged 15 to 29 living in Africa in 2010, representing approximately 28% of the overall population of the continent. In 2010, 63% of Africa’s overall population was below the age of 25 according to Africa Youth Facts.
Most of this population will look to agriculture for jobs. Which is good. Helping to increase food production to feed an increasing population, reducing poverty etc.
Therefore, they must succeed to a very high degree to keep the trend.

We believe it is about 95% dependent on the individual if they are to succeed in agriculture.
Why do these Agribusinesses by the Youth in Africa fail?
We would elaborate a few points to start the discussions.
1. The lack of information or knowledge
There are some basic information and knowledge one needs to acquire before making starting an agribusiness. Many a time, we look from afar, see the success of others or a beautiful green field of crops or a flock of livestock. In our minds, we convert it to money and that is it, we want to go into agribusiness. Our strong anxiety for money could blind us from getting enough information. Instead, the desire for sustainable income should cause you to do your research and gather enough information to build a sustainable agribusiness.

2. Over-ambition (setting unrealistic targets)
Agribusiness is not a get-rich-quick venture. It takes time and effort to build and get good returns. The returns may not come in the quantum that you want from the beginning. Set realistic targets and be ready to learn from the failures.
3. Poor management
Obviously, with poor management of an agribusiness, only miracles can keep them alive and you can’t guarantee miracles. This goes to buttress the point on knowledge acquisition. If you do not know what you want to do and how to do it you are most likely to fail.
4. The lack of proper planning
If you fail to plan… The planning must be done with the information and knowledge about the type of agribusiness and in details. If not, you may fail even before you start.

5. Lack of strong attitude and mentality
You may hit a few stumbling blocks. That is okay. You may even fail a couple of times. Without a good attitude and a strong mentality, you will quit and that is an absolute failure.
The list can go on and on.
